Car Rider Information

At Corydon Elementary School we take safety very seriously. To this end, we have created car rider drop off and pick up procedures that are not only intended to keep everyone safe but are also intended to streamline the process - getting everyone where they need to be as quickly as possible. Please bare in mind, however, that due to the large number of car riders we have, it may take up to 30 minutes to complete the car rider dismissal process.

Please take a look at the maps below for morning drop off and afternoon pick up routes and procedures.

Morning Drop Off Route and Procedures

Enter the parking lot via Country Club Rd.

Get in the car rider line. This is a single-file line.

Pull up along the sidewalk at the front entrance of the school.

Please have the child ready to exit the vehicle from the passenger side. That is, please have the child unbuckled with all his/her belongings ready to exit the vehicle.

Please maintain your place in line and exit the parking lot onto Country Club Rd.

Afternoon Pick Up Route and Procedures

Car rider dismissal is at:
- 2:50 PM on Mon-Thu
- 2:05 PM on Fridays

All vehicles should be parked and ready to receive students 5 minutes before actual dismissal time.

Enter the parking lot via Beechmont Drive.

We use color lanes for afternoon pick up. Each color has more than one lane. Please enter a lane associated with the grade level of your oldest child - pulling completely forward.

Kindergarten = yellow (3 lanes)
1st Grade = green (2 lanes)
2nd Grade = purple (3 lanes)
3rd Grade = red (3 lanes)

Students will be delivered to you by staff members. Please remain in the vehicle.

Remain in line and wait for staff to direct you to exit onto Country Club Rd. We rotate which color exits the parking lot first on a weekly basis.

Please Note: We have a lot of car riders and it can take up to 30 minutes to exit the parking lot. Please be patient.

*On Fridays, school releases early. Car riders are dismissed at 2:05 PM, so please be in line and ready at 2:00 PM.

A Few More Things to Note

Car Rider Tags

Families will need a car rider tag to pick up their child in the afternoon. A tag will be needed for every person/vehicle that might be used to pick up the child on a regular basis. Families may pick up car rider tags from the school.  Families should request the color of the car rider tag that is associated with their oldest child's hall. Hall colors for this year are as follows:

  • Kindergarten = yellow

  • 1st Grade = green

  • 2nd Grade = purple

  • 3rd Grade = red

Transportation Notes and Changes

Families should call or send a note to school outlining the regular transportation arrangements for their child. If at all possible, we encourage families to try and establish a fairly consistent arrangement for transportation.

That being said, we understand that life can cause a change in these arrangements. Families should send in a note with their child or call the school office if there needs to be a change made to the child's typical transportation arrangements. If a call is made, we respectfully ask that families call the office by 1:00 PM to ensure that we have enough time to notify the teacher and the child.
