On Friday, juniors and seniors from South Central and Corydon Central stepped into their futures at the Harrison County Community Job Fair, an event designed to introduce them to potential employers, colleges, and career training programs. Hosted by the Harrison County Lifelong Learning Center, the fair provided students with hands-on experience networking with professionals and exploring a variety of career paths.
For South Harrison’s College & Career Readiness (CCR) Center, this event was a key milestone in a year-long effort to prepare students for life beyond high school. Through mock interviews, resume-building workshops, and lunch-and-learn sessions, students have been developing the skills needed to make a great first impression and confidently pursue career opportunities.
A Year of Preparation for This Moment
This job fair wasn’t just a one-day event—it was the result of months of preparation to ensure students felt ready to engage with employers. Leading up to the fair, seniors participated in mock interviews with local business partners, gaining valuable feedback on their resumes, interview skills, and professional presence. Lunch-and-learn sessions hosted throughout the year gave students opportunities to hear from guest speakers about a wide range of careers, from skilled trades to healthcare to business management.
By the time they arrived at the fair today, South Harrison students were prepared not just to browse booths, but to ask meaningful questions, discuss potential career paths, and even explore internship and job opportunities.
Opportunities That Matter
At the job fair, students had the chance to:
Meet employers hiring for full-time, part-time, and seasonal positions;
Connect with colleges and trade schools to learn about admissions and financial aid;
Explore career pathways in fields like healthcare, manufacturing, business, and public service; and
Practice professional conversations and build confidence in networking.
For many students, the event was eye-opening, showing them the range of opportunities available right here in Southern Indiana. Some students walked away with interview opportunities lined up, while others discovered career paths they hadn’t considered before.
Building a Stronger Future
Events like these bridge the gap between education and the workforce, ensuring that South Harrison students are career-ready the moment they graduate. Whether they’re entering the workforce immediately, heading to trade school, or continuing their education at a university, today’s experience gave them a clearer vision for their future.
A huge thank you to Harrison County Lifelong Learning, our CCR team, local employers, and all the organizations that made this event possible! We are proud to see our students taking active steps toward their careers and futures.
