September was a busy and exciting month for the College & Career Readiness Center at South Harrison, where students engaged in several events designed to help them explore career options and sharpen their skills for the future.
Students at Corydon Central and South Central are actively applying for the School-to-Work program hosted by Lucas Oil, an incredible opportunity for hands-on career experience. In addition, seniors had the chance to attend the optional Fall Job Fair on September 10, hosted by Lifelong Learning, where they networked with potential employers and learned more about job prospects in the region.
The CCR Center also supported seniors in the Speech program as they practiced their public speaking skills by attending Rotary meetings. Additionally, College GO Week from September 23-27 encouraged students to explore higher education options. Though College APP Day was postponed, 17 colleges were scheduled to help seniors complete their online college applications.
For students interested in manufacturing, Manufacturing Day on September 27 was a hit, with juniors and seniors attending an event at Markers 13 in Jeffersonville, IN. There, they experienced hands-on learning, gaining a better understanding of the manufacturing industry.
These events play a crucial role in helping students discover their passions and begin planning their future career paths. By offering such diverse experiences, the CCR Center ensures that South Harrison students have the tools and knowledge to make informed decisions about their education and career goals.
