Career speakers have returned for the 2022-2023 school year! In October, the 8th graders had three career speakers: Ian Dougherty (Radiology Technologist), Kanon Stewart (Firefighter), and Claudia Yundt (Cave Property Director). Below is a little information about their careers.
Radiology Technologist - This career involves performing diagnostic imaging examinations on medical patients, such as x-rays, CAT scans, and MRIs. This career usually requires an Associate's degree . It would be a good career fit for someone who likes helping others, is good at science, is interested in the medical field, and understands technological equipment.
Firefighter - Firefighters control fires and respond to various emergency situations where life, property, or the environment could be at risk. This career requires various certifications that can be obtained through on-the-job training or through Prosser. This career would be a good fit for those who want to protect and serve, are community oriented, and quick on their feet.
Cave Property Director - This career involves being in charge of the business, hiring/firing employees, scheduling tours, maintaining the property, and more. While a running a cave is a unique career, there are many opportunities in the hospitality and tourism cluster that allow for leadership positions. Someone in those positions might need a Bachelor's degree in business or hospitality. They should also work well with a variety of people and be organized.
