The 7th and 8th Boys Basketball Teams opened up Mid-Southern Conference tournament play on Saturday at Austin High School with a combined 3-1 record.
In First-Round action the 7th Grade was able to defeat Charlestown 43-30. Will Bulleit led the victory with a 23 point performance while adding 7 rebounds and 3 assist. Charlie Coffman added 7 points and 8 rebounds as well. In the semifinals the 7th grade would fall in defeat to a very talented Scottsburg team with a final score 55-29. Despite the defeat the boys fought hard and never quit. Will Bulleit led the way with 11 points in the respective loss.
The 7th grade will return to action on Thursday when they travel to Henryville for a 6:00pm tip.
First round action for the 8th Grade Boys was similar to the 7th as they defeated Charlestown 41-25. In route to victory the panthers were able to get 11 players in the scoring column which was led by Grant Lindemann with 9 points. Braylen Boyette and Hudson Withers added 6 each in the victory. Semifinal action slated a match up with the Lions of Salem. The panthers jumped out early to secure a 45-23 victory over Salem and advance to the MSC Championship game this Thursday. The Panthers were able to once again place 11 players in the scoring column with Braylen Boyette leading the way with 13 points and 5 rebounds.
The 8th Grade Boys will return to Austin High School on Thursday, January 26th @ 7:15pm as they turn their attention to the Mid-Southern Conference Championship! Come out and support the Panthers as they continue their impressive season. Go Panthers!
