The week before Christmas at Heth-Washington Elementary was a whirlwind of holiday cheer.
Each day our students showed their excitement for the season with daily dress up days where they could pull out everything from their holiday socks and headgear to their Grinch gear.
But the fun didn't stop there! Our youngest learners, from Pre-K to 2nd grade, embarked on a magical journey aboard the Polar Express where they enjoyed hot chocolate, popcorn, cookies, and a special showing of movie. I'm not sure who had more fun - the kids or the teachers!
Meanwhile, our 3rd graders traded their classroom for the pool, enjoying a refreshing swim to cool off from the excitement....and gain some valuable knowledge about water safety.
And no Christmas celebration at Heth-Washington is complete without our annual Christmas present giveaway. Thanks to the generosity of our community, the HWES PTO, and the HWES teachers and staff, every student received a pair of shoes, a HWES hoodie, books hand-selected by reading level, gloves, a hat, hygiene products, and holiday candy. Funds were raised through the annual HWES Fall Festival, candle sales by students, and financial donations from numerous anonymous donors as well as from many of our local churches and business. This even would not be possible without the combined efforts of these individuals and organizations!
Thank you to everyone involved in making this event a success!
