Sixth graders concluded their study of the Great Depression with an immersive experience, hosting "The Great Depression Bake-Off." Students recreated historical recipes like vinegar pies, chocolate depression cake, and potato candy, gaining a taste of resilience through food. The class also visited O'Bannon Woods State Park, where they explored the CCC group camp and saw firsthand the projects completed by this New Deal program. Over three weeks, they tracked a stock daily to better understand the stock market and its role in the economic turmoil of the era, tying together history, economics, and hands-on learning in a memorable way.
