In November the College & Career Readiness Center was buzzing with activity, giving students opportunities to explore their futures and build essential employability skills. These experiences not only prepare students for life beyond high school but also align with Indiana’s workforce needs, where industries demand skilled, adaptable employees.
Sophomores from Corydon Central and South Central High Schools visited Prosser Career Education Center, where they explored in-demand programs ranging from welding to culinary arts. Seeing these programs firsthand helps students make informed decisions about their career pathways. And ninth graders got a preview of what’s ahead during classroom visits from a Prosser representative.
For seniors, public speaking took center stage as Advanced Speech students presented at Rotary. Their thoughtful presentations demonstrated the communication and professionalism skills essential in any career. Meanwhile, a cadet from West Point visited the CCR Center to talk with interested students about the prestigious academy, providing insights into admissions, campus life, and career opportunities in the armed forces.
Our Work-Based Learners continue to thrive in their on-site roles, honing employability skills like teamwork, punctuality, and problem-solving. With programs like these, South Harrison is directly contributing to Southern Indiana’s workforce, where the demand for skilled workers continues to rise. According to state data, career readiness initiatives like ours are key to addressing workforce shortages and preparing students for in-demand roles.
